About Me & The Blog

Mark Gahagan is a Computer Science Ph.D. Student at UC San Diego. However, that is not all he does. When not working on the latest computer research, he works various gigs as a poker media analyst. Right now he works as the host and producer of the Cardrunners podcast “Rabbit Hunt”, which has been infrequently suggested as the successor to the 2-time award winning The Poker Beat. He also writes occasionally for Pokerati.com, providing his take on the month’s poker news in a column “Winners, Losers, Coinflips”. He is working on pursuing a dual career, as a computer researcher and/or at least a semi-professional poker player.

OK, the formal introduction is over, so here’s the deal. Past incarnations of the blog have either focused solely on poker news, solely on my play in poker, etc. At this point, it’s gotten pretty clear those didn’t get very far. So I’ve used a domain renewal to give this yet another go, and frankly I’m going to write whatever I want. It will mostly be about poker to be sure, but other aspects of my life will come into play as well, whether its computers, video games, general happenings in San Diego, etc. This blog is meant to be entertaining, so I will say right now if there is any angst in the posts its probably to provide some sort of enjoyment in someone else’s suffering. Seriously…I don’t take myself seriously enough to think a blog should be a portal to my soul. My opinion should matter for something at this point, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a little fun in the process. Hope you enjoy reading and certainly be sure to comment!
